On Monday, 09 July 2012, at the Parish of Santa Maria Imakulata (Saint Mary Immaculate), Tarakan, East Kalimantan, The Bishop of Tanjung Selor, Mgr. Yustinus T. Harjasusanta, MSF will ordain Deacon Aloysius Wahyu Nugroho, OMI as a priest - the 31st Indonesian Oblate who was born in Bandungan, Central Java, 28 May 1984.
After finishing his education at the Minor Seminary St. Petrus Canisius, Mertoyudan, Magelang, Central Java, Deacon Wahyu chose to enter the Congregation of the Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate (OMI). His two-year Novitiate was taken place at the OMI Indonesia Novitiate "Beato Joseph Gerard", Blotan, Yogyakarta, in the year 2003-2005. His First Vows to the Congregation was pronounced on 14 August 2005 at Yogyakarta. He studied Philosophy and Teology at the Faculty of Teology Wedabhakti (FTW), Yogyakarta.
Upon completing his Bachelor in Philosophy and Teology in 2008, he was sent to the Parish of St. Petrus dan Andreas (St. Peter and Andrew), Sepauk, Diocese of Sintang, West Kalimantan, to have his year of Pastoral Orientation for 9 months. Returning Yogyakarta in 2009, he took a Magister Programme in Teology at the University of Sanata Dharma, Yogyakarta. He professed his Final Vows on 21 May 2011 at the Chapel of St. Paulus Scholasticate, Kentungan, Yogyakarta. His diaconate time is spent at the OMI Indonesia Scholasticate, Yogyakarta, with the main aim to finish his Master degree.
Let us pray for Deacon Wahyu in his final preparations for his priesthood ordination. As hoped by him as well as all of us, may he has a joyful priesthood life so that he may share his joyful to the people and the parishioners he works with. May he is faithful as a priest and be a true Oblate.
